Okay, so I sent this to my friend Sarah and I guess she said I should post it up. I was looking for music yesterday and I found Lullaby of Birdland by Ella Fitzgerald. I was bored and decided to record my own version. My recording equipment isn't that great, it's just my mp3 player and I didn't record the whole song. I might post up the whole song later but here it is. Lullabye of Birdland.
Yes... that's the piece I'm practicing right now. Notice that it's "piece" and not "song" because there are no words. Um... I wanted to write about something but I don't remember what. Crud... well, my head hurts. It's been hurting since church this morning. It got worse at work around 8:30 and kept getting worse. The immense pain is dying down though because I ate something when I got home. Although, I do attribute the headaches to the fact that I have been wearing my glasses all day for four years when I'm supposed to wear them at school to see far or at work and I was supposed to change them about two years ago. What can I say, immense laziness is one of the things I'm extremely good at. Anyway, I'm thinking about going with my mom to get new glasses because she hasn't changed hers in over two years also and I heard there was a buy one get one deal somewhere... yeah. I'm so glad I don't work again until Friday but my name badge is busted. I really don't want to have to wear it around my neck but I might have to.
And for your listening enjoyment (If you like classical music)... Moonlight sonata by Ludwig Van Beethoven! Not by me...
Do you tend to like music in particular genres, or are your tastes all over the place? What are your most and least favorite musical genres?
As I grow older, I've certaintly noticed that my musical taste has been governed more by what I think is a 'good music' if I like the melody or lyrics no matter what type of genre it is. While when I was younger, I listened to the type of music that was more popular among the masses. I listened to pop and mainly stayed within that and R&B. I never really listened to rock or any alternative stuff like Panic at the Disco or Paramore or Salsa or Classical because black kids will look at me as a black girl--although I'm half Latin American-- and look at me strangely if I were listening to that type of music. Now, I don't really care, I listen to what I want to.
I don't really like to delve into genres because I can't really correctly name a song and place it into a genre when some parts of it belong to some other genre... I wouldn't know what to call it. Does that make sense? Anyway, I'll just name some of the artists I like and hopefully you'll get an idea of the "genres".
I like Rakim y Ken-Y--I guess that would automatically be Reggaetón. Lauryn Hill, Destiny's Child, Alicia Keys, Stevie Wonder, John Legend--some of the stuff that's considered R&B. I like Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert... most all classical but I definitely like Scott Joplin and Ragtime. I like the music termed "Latin music" or Salsa and Merengue (I like how sometimes music is called Salsa or Merengue when it's clearly a Bachata or Reggaetón...moving on...)--usually Ruben Blades, Juanes, Aventura, Shakira. And then there's Paramore, Panic! at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and Meg and Dia. So, basically, I'll just listen to a song and, if I like it, continue listening to it regardless of the genre.
I like a lot more music than those mentioned above, those are just a few of my favorite types. Oh yeah, I absolutely WON'T listen to country... the music could be well done but it's just not my thing.
Nope, no hearts exploded... that was just a lyric from I song I heard earlier today. Anyway, I have a new picture up it's also on my deviantart page but there's no harm in posting it here too. I was listening to the song "Hoy Me Voy" by Juanes and the lyrics on the picture are from that song. The magical heart in her hands is supposed to be symbolic of her giving her love back to him... so they're basically breaking up. I know the guy isn't there because I was lazy and decided not to draw him. So here's the pic, and sorry for the smudges. For those who don't speak Spanish here's a pretty literal translation:
Return to me that heart
You didn't know to value
That which I gave to you, really...
Return to me that heart
You didn't know to value
That which in reality I gave to you
...
I hope that's right... Spanish was my first language yet I'm a bit rusty, that's why I'm taking Spanish classes now
