This was a long time ago, back when the only console my cousins had was a Nintendo 64. Back when Nintendo 64 was the most recent Nintendo game console so far. Back when my cousin was still crazy as hell doing his signature "Oh woolfy" dance--a parody of one of Tex Avery's cartoons where the blond woman is singing about a wolf for some reason--but let me get back on the subject.
So we were playing Mario Party... I don't remember which one and I actually don't remember if it was even Mario Party or Mario Kart... maybe it was Mario Kart. Of course I was Luigi, while my younger cousin, Dennis, was Bowser or something. So we're driving along when suddenly Luigi says "O-ho... Niño!" or maybe it was "Ojo... Niño!" because he ran into a wall--that performance was a mess (it was my first time playing N64, I had a playstation and that was all I played)--and then I thought, "He spoke Spanish!". I think I said that out loud also because I was surprised that he spoke for the first time--at least it was my first time hearing him speak--and not only that but it was Spanish--well, I thought it was Spanish, I still don't know.... So at that time I was thinking that Luigi spoke two languages thus coming to the fact that he at least knew something Mario didn't. This made me very happy.
Remember, I was in jr. high at the time.
So I was talking to my friend a while ago while I was playing Paper Mario. I was at the 2nd or 3rd act, or whatever it is, when I realized that Bowser was roughly the same color as koopas in the game and has a shell. I'm guessing that koopas are evolved turtles that walk upright... and talk.
I did some research--wikipedia--into what Bowser may be, apparently nobody knows either but according to one of his names in Japanese "King Koopa" it got me thinking that he may be in "reality" a giant koopa, but then I thought, "Weird yo..." because of the fact that he has spikes on his shell and breathes fire.
Are they evolved specimens with the same common ancestor and Bowser is just more evolved than them... or are they, in fact, a completely different species?
