Okay, so I sent this to my friend Sarah and I guess she said I should post it up. I was looking for music yesterday and I found Lullaby of Birdland by Ella Fitzgerald. I was bored and decided to record my own version. My recording equipment isn't that great, it's just my mp3 player and I didn't record the whole song. What do you love about where you live?

I live in Iowa and I like the fact that it's quiet and a relatively safe place to raise young kids (though I don't have kids myself). Although I was born in New York, I grew up here. I didn't like it at first because it was less exciting than New York but maybe it's grown on me or I just grew to be the type of person who doesn't crave too much excitement. Whatever it is, I'd probably get away from Iowa for a few years or a month but I'd definitely come back.

My friend got me a Nancy Drew book plus one of the Hardy Boys. It was the new series. I read the Nancy Drew one, "False Notes" and I also read the graphic novel that she gave me... I don't remember what it was called. They were both a part of the many books I had in Connecticut with me while I was going to to school over there. Well, I got accepted to Iowa and my dad also had this crazy idea of coming to Iowa with me (after he told me that he'd never return to live there). We packed up all of our stuff hoping that nationwide would send a truck to our house... the first day, they didn't do it, then the next, and the next. Finally, my dad went with a new company. I don't remember the name of that one, but they moved our stuff. However, the estimate turned out to be lower than the actual cost so my dad couldn't pay and we ended up losing all our stuff, except for all of our music instruments and computers which were in the car with us. My dad lost a lifetime of vintage records and old books. He majored in Linguistics. Compared to him, I lost nothing. All I had was my printer, hair stuff, books, computer games, clothes, CDs and folders full of drawings. Anyway, I haven't read most of my books except for "False Notes" I haven't even looked at the Hardy Boys one. It stinks that most of that stuff I have to buy again, although I already played those games I had.

Okay, for some reason I did this recording of me singing Ingrid Michaelson's "Breakable". I suppose I was bored. Anyway, I e-mailed it to my friend and she said I should put it on here. Now, there's no music behind it because I don't know how to play it nor can I play piano and sing at the same time. So, here is my horrible, horrible cover of "Breakable" please forgive my voice...
Okay, I just have to write this down because if I don't then it'll be on my mind the whole day. Sometimes I take a different bus on Wednesdays and Fridays because I get out of class at 12:20 and I pretty much just want to go home right away. So, instead of waiting for the 10th Street Coralville bus that comes at 1:20 or so, I take the Coralville Lantern Park bus that stays out there from 12:20 or earlier and leaves at 12:30. I have to stop at 22nd avenue and walk to 10th street (It's not that far) because otherwise, the bus would take me to coral ridge first before finally going to 10th street.
So, I took the Lantern Park route today and I'm walking up 22nd avenue to 13th street to 10th street and on the way, I see this blue car that honks at me. I didn't get a good look at the driver so I have no idea who it is and if they even know me. This is probably the third time it happened, and I know it's the same car because I saw it two of those three times. Today, the driver honked and passed me then I just looked back all while thinking "Who is that?". I told my mom about it once and she said it might be one of her friends but that particular friend hasn't seen me since I was 13 and I doubt they'd remember me... it could be though.
It's more frustrating than creepy because I don't know who it is... It might be someone from work but I don't really look at the type of cars people drive so I wouldn't know. Maybe it's someone from class... but I usually keep to myself so I don't know why someone would honk at me and greet me on the street from their car, unless they're really friendly. I know it's not one of my friends because one has a red car and the other has a green car and she's probably at work by now. Maybe, and this is the explanation I'm leaning towards, it's a big joke or a misunderstanding. There's probably this guy...or girl... that thinks it's funny to honk at people on their way home, or they think I'm somebody else. Man, it sucks not knowing who it is.

Okay, so apparently people think I'm unapproachable. I am not... I don't want to give out this pompous feeling or anything, I just don't speak much in classes with people I don't know at all. And when I'm doing things in groups or in partners, I stick to class stuff and the talking pretty much ends there. I kind of expect the other person to start conversation, pretty sad I know. I'm getting a wee bit better at it though. I pretty much tend to stick with speak until you're spoken to or only speak when I have something to say...
But anyway, I'm really nice when anyone gets to know me... and don't think I don't like you at first meeting because I pretty much like everybody unless you haven't showered for weeks... or you look like a vampire!... and Sarah, you know what I'm talking about! Just thought I should clarify for anyone who cares

]]>I went to work yesterday... it was fine when I got there at around 3:00 but then at around 5:00 or so, I wasn't feeling cheerful at all for some reason. I mean, I used to get bad headaches before and I started getting them... maybe this time I really need to get new glasses and soon. Or maybe it was just the stress of school starting tomorrow. I'm not ready at all, and on top of that. My french class starts at 8:30 and ends at 9:20--which is early because I have to take the bus at 7:21 And then my music class starts at 9:30. So I have 10 minutes to go from one side of campus to the other... I'm trying to change it but I don't think I can. I'll just have to walk quick then.
So anyway, I was in the break room complaining to my friends I was starting to get a headache and I wanted to leave, well, it got better during the day. Sarah came by to Wal-Mart because her mom had to buy blinds so we just hung out for about half an hour because it was my lunch break. I was so forgetful yesterday though. I forgot to get people their change, I forgot to ring up coupons, I also forgot my locker combination for a while, I forgot to clock out for lunch--but then I did that five minutes later. I forgot to clock back in... someone had to remind me. It was not a good day yesterday.
